This week I had the privilege of attending the NDIA Future Force Capabilities Conference in Las Vegas alongside military leaders, defense executives, innovators, investors, and technology companies focused on the future of national security.

One thing became clear almost immediately: the future is arriving faster than most people realize.

Conversations throughout the conference focused on artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, robotics, advanced manufacturing, cyber capabilities, and next generation defense technologies. Military leaders and industry partners alike are operating with a growing sense of urgency as they work to maintain America’s strategic advantage in an increasingly competitive global environment.

A major theme across the event has been the acceleration of defense modernization. Funding continues to increase, and government leaders are actively seeking ways to move innovative technologies from concept to deployment more quickly than ever before. The conversation is no longer centered solely on innovation. The focus is on delivering proven capabilities to the warfighter at speed and scale.

For Black Star Syndicate members, this represents a significant opportunity.

Many of the most exciting discussions involve small businesses, startups, advanced manufacturing, energy, critical minerals, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies. The defense community is actively searching for partners who can move quickly, solve real problems, and deliver measurable results.

Another consistent message throughout the conference has been the importance of relationships. Trusted partnerships between industry, government, academia, and investors will be essential to solving tomorrow’s challenges and building the capabilities needed for the future fight.
